Dr. Lisa Vasanth has a BA in History from Yale University. She received her medical degree from Columbia College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York, NY. She completed her Internal Medicine residency at New York Presbyterian Hospital’s Columbia Campus and her Rheumatology fellowship at Hospital for Special Surgery in New York. During fellowship, she also received a Masters in Biostatistics, Clinical Research Methods from Columbia’s Mailman School of Public Health. Prior to joining The Vancouver Clinic, Dr. Vasanth was a member of the Rheumatology faculty at Hospital for Special Surgery in New York.
Dr Vasanth has been actively involved in the hearing loss community since her two children were born profoundly deaf due to connexin 26. Connexin 26 is a recessive gene that is the most common cause of childhood deafness. Thanks to cochlear implant technology and the incredible network of professionals and services available in New York, her children are thriving in the mainstream school setting.
